Glory to the Newborn King!

“Hark the herald angels sing! Glory to the newborn King.” In the words of this beautiful song, we hear the good news of Christ’s birth.

Christ gave Himself to save us. He came to bring peace to earth and to open the gates to heaven. Now it is our job to work in conjunction with Him to foster this peace—peace within our families, within our communities, within our wider culture, and within our own hearts.

Yet too often today many do the exact opposite. Instead of fostering peace, they sow the seeds of discord. This is exactly what Satan wants us to do. When he rebelled and told God he didn’t need Him, he opened the door for us to follow him. And many do.

But our Lord, so filled with love and so filled with compassion, came to us to show us a better way—a way that would bring peace. He didn’t come as a grown man steeped in riches. He came as a baby. And the first person to recognize Him was another preborn baby. What a beautiful moment that must have been! Two babies in the womb leaping for joy.

Today, we can and must work toward that peace on earth. How we do that looks different for everyone, as we all have unique talents and gifts. But we must all understand that we have a vital role to play in sowing peace on earth.

So as we approach Christmas and the New Year, let us look to that tiny baby in the womb who was then born in a stable and ponder the sacrifice He made out of love for us. We are not worthy, but He came anyway. We are not perfect, but He is. Christ is enough. And we should give glory to Him not only today but every day.

Merry Christmas from all of us at Celebrate Life Magazine!
