PRO-LIFE BASICS: Can Planned Parenthood really advise a young girl that she can get the “morning-after” pill without her parents’’ knowledge and without a prescription?

The short answer to your question is yes and yes. In fact, parental rights have been obliterated when it comes to an unemancipated minor’s access to contraceptives and abortion. In 2012, the Obama administration issued rules stating that employers must provide insurance that includes coverage “without cost sharing, for all Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved contraceptive methods, sterilization procedures, and patient education and counseling for all women with reproductive capacity.” This means that any female of any age who has “reproductive capacity” could easily obtain such “services.” And 26 states and the District of Columbia already allow children age 12 and older to obtain contraceptives without parental consent or notification.

The “morning-after” pill (“emergency contraception”), like all birth control pills and other hormonal contraceptives, is not merely a contraceptive. The website for Plan B One-Step (one brand of “morning-after” pill) admits, “It is possible that Plan B One-Step® may also work . . . by preventing attachment (implantation) to the uterus (womb).” This means the pill can thin the wall of the mother’s uterus, which prevents implantation. If the preborn baby cannot implant, he will die of starvation. That is an abortion.

Even worse, in 2013, the FDA made Plan B One-Step available over the counter to anyone of any age. According to Planned Parenthood’s website, “Anyone can get it over the counter. . . . All other brands: 17 or older can get it OTC, 16 and younger need a prescription.”

Students for Life of America recently conducted undercover investigations at pharmacies in several states, and its video footage proves that statutory rapists can easily purchase Plan B One-Step to abort the babies of their underage victims.

Our children can pollute their bodies with contraceptive chemicals, abort innocent babies, and behave with reckless abandon without regard for the consequences—and the same actions can be perpetrated against them by adult criminals. The only time a parent need be involved is when his or her child dies from ingesting these dangerous drugs, a botched abortion, or suicide stemming from a broken heart or post-abortion trauma.

Planned Parenthood victimizes our children in so many ways. It does this with consistency and complete protection of the law. The only recourse parents have is to educate and warn their children about the life-threatening consequences of believing anything that Planned Parenthood teaches or counsels.
