In a brilliant effort to draw attention to the fact that help is available to women experiencing crisis pregnancies, Gabriel Dionisi, a 22-year-old college student from Boston, Massachusetts, has designed a beautiful bumper sticker encouraging moms to choose life.
The positive and affirming message on the sticker says “Choose Life!” and features the image of two baby feet—one pink and one blue—between those words. Below that, the sticker asks “Pregnant? Need help? Optionline.org.”
Simple but effective.
Gabriel, a student at Bridgewater State University, explained that he has a calling to help moms and babies. When he was 14, he became more serious about his Catholic faith; this led to an interest and involvement in faith-filled volunteer work, especially after he learned the horrors of abortion and what actually happens during an abortion. Understanding that he just couldn’t sit idly by, he began volunteering, praying in front of abortion facilities, joining student groups, and attending meetings.
In 2018, he had the inspiration to create bumper stickers and to give them away for free. In 2023, hoping to reach more people, he created prolifestickers.com so that people throughout the country can order his stickers at no charge (or a nominal shipping fee for ordering in bulk). He has even expanded and now offers magnetic stickers for just $5.
Gabriel said that he wanted to create “a positive message” that illustrates the fact that pro-life people want to help women, as they are often erroneously accused of not caring about the baby once he or she is born.
He wants women to know that there are thousands of pro-life pregnancy help centers that not only support moms during their pregnancy but offer assistance in the way of finances, material goods, clothing, and even shelter after they have the baby.
He chose to highlight optionline.org, which is run by Heartbeat International, because it’s national and offers a map where moms anywhere throughout the US can look up local pregnancy centers. Additionally, the site offers a 24/7 helpline (phone, text, and webchat) with counselors who speak in both English and Spanish.
These bumper stickers are an incredibly easy way to reach people, to make them think about the sanctity of life, and to show that there is help for moms who need it. Gabriel explained that the bumper stickers can potentially reach thousands with little effort, as we drive by countless people each day. As he said, “It’s not inconceivable that 20 people could see the sticker every day. . . . If you multiply 20 by 365, that’s over 7,000 a year.”
In most places, as 20 is a conservative number for the amount of people we drive by every day, this pro-life message has the potential to reach tens of thousands of people every year.
To date, Gabriel has given away close to 10,000 bumper stickers. That’s a phenomenal impact.
Gabriel is now president of Students for Life at Bridgewater and hopes to reach more young people with the truth about abortion, as they are typically the ones having them. He explained that he was inspired by the witness and advocacy of the late Charlie Kirk and wants “to keep doing what Charlie Kirk did and try to reach young people with the truth.”
He stated:
Getting more young adults to be involved in pro-life is a passion of mine because we need more people from our generation who can stand up with courage, like the courage that Charlie Kirk had. I encourage young people to start finding ways to take action. And I encourage even the parents and grandparents and those who have young adults in their life to encourage them and invite them to get more involved.
Gabriel is certainly a strong example of someone who exhibits moral courage; it’s a courage we need to see from more young people today if we are ever going to make abortion unthinkable.
Yet he understands that speaking out for our faith and for the truths about abortion can sometimes be intimidating, especially in our volatile climate. That’s why adding a bumper sticker to a car is an easy way to witness to our faith. Young people especially will see that, when they start small and gain courage in little ways, it becomes easier to boldly stand up for their faith and for Church teachings.
Gabriel said that one of his goals is to encourage people to see that “life is a gift from God” and that “we’re created to love and to serve.” He explained that “true happiness is found by doing what’s right and acting out of love for others.”
Gabriel’s bumper sticker ministry is certainly an act of love done in the service of others, and it challenges us to take action as well. So if you have feared speaking out about abortion, or if you just don’t know what to say, let your advocacy start with a bumper sticker. It’s free, and it may just be the catalyst our society needs to ignite the flame that will eventually change our culture.
